Ford F-Series Trucks hits 43rd Straight Year of Top Sales

The Ford F-Series truck has maintained its position of the United States’ best-selling truck, reaching number one on the annual sales charts for the 43rd straight year in succession. It is also the United States’ best-selling vehicle for the 38th straight year.

With the re-addition of the Ranger to the F-Series, Ford has managed to achieve its best pickup truck sales since 2005, with close to one million Ford F-Series pickup trucks being sold.

“America’s best-selling brand for the past decade is on a roll. F-Series celebrates 43 years as the country’s favorite truck and 38 years as its overall vehicle, and Transit stood at the top of the van podium again,” said vice president of Ford Marketing, Sales and Service, Mark LaNeve. “We promised a winning portfolio and that’s what we’re delivering with more on the way, including Mustang Mach-E, an all-new F-150 and the return of Bronco. It’s going to be an exciting year for new product at Ford.”

Sales of the Ford Transit and the Ford Transit Connect Also Rose

Sales of the Ford Transit rose by almost twelve percent in 2019, with well over 150,000 sales. The Transit Connect also a saw a huge increase in sales, up over 30 percent with almost 42,000 vehicles sold. This made Ford the United States’ most popular commercial van brand in terms of sales for the 41st straight year.

The F-Series, Transit, Transit Connect and Ranger all combined for what was a phenomenal year for Ford. The Ranger – returning after being discontinued in the United States and Canada in 2011 – sold just under 90,000 units in 2019. In combination, Ford van and truck sales totaled just under 1.24 million in 2019, which is a rise of over nine percent from 2018.

Ford’s SUV and Car Sales Were Down, But it was Not all Bad News in That Department

It wasn’t all good news for Ford though, when the company released its final sales figures for 2019. SUV sales for the company were down almost seven percent, even though they still managed to sell almost three quarter of a million vehicles. There were some significant gains, though – the EcoSport was up over 19 percent, the Edge over 3 percent and the Expedition saw a massive jump in sales of almost 60 percent.

Ford car sales fell sharply too, as the company had anticipated. It was not all doom and gloom, though as Ford still managed to self almost 325,000 vehicles. Sales of the Ford Fiesta were up by over 16 percent, and the Mustang is more than likely to hold its position as the United States’ best-selling sports coupe, selling almost 72,500 vehicles in 2019.
